My work as a photographer largely involves documenting the people, processes and landscapes of the UK food industry. I spend part of my time in the studio shooting for editorial and commercial clients, but above all I specialise in photographing food producers in an outdoors environment.
The themes of provenance and sustainability which run through my work come from growing up in a home where cooking and eating together, as well as growing some of our own produce, were important parts of everyday life. These family traditions of food, and my passion for fishing and foraging are both central inspirations for my photography, as well as values I aim to pass on to my own children. Land and geography are also important to my work, and I am particularly inspired by the beauty, and the bleakness, of Britain’s landscapes through the seasons.
I aim to tell the story of quality British food, with images that create emotion, and shine a light on the unique environment and traditions from which it comes.
